The Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s
Association was
established in 1889 to support the volunteer fire organizations,
all member fire fighters and the public they serve in the counties
of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Greene, Orange, Putnam,
Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren,
Washington and Westchester.
One of the committees established to assist in this mission is the Fire
and
Accident Prevention Committee, whose function is to conduct training
sessions
and/or other events promoting fire prevention and safety for members and
the
public they serve.
The Committee supports the fire essay contest and poster contests
sponsored by the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York and
gives prizes and awards on the
Valley” level to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Winners.
The Committee has conducted several Family Safety Days throughout the
“Valley” with educational and fun things to do for the whole family –
demonstrations on Fire Prevention, Railroad Track Safety, School Bus
Safety, Poison Control, Gun Safety, and Water Safety to name a few.
